Abstract
Planar blocking of axially channeled particles leads to a strong enhancement of the minimum yield measured at shallow depths, the so-called Barrett factor. We have included this effect in calculations based on the master equation for the distribution in transverse energy through introduction of a restricted equilibrium in transverse phase space, excluding planar channeling. A significant improvement of the agreement with Monte Carlo simulations has been obtained.
