Abstract
A honey bee ( Apis mellifera L.) head restrainer is described which immobilizes the head in a standard position and allows access to the interior of the head through the eyes, as well as through the front and back of the head. The bee must be anesthetized before being placed on the holder. A bee anesthesia bottle is described. A ‘bee lock’ is described which allows the placement of individual bees into the hive without disturbing bees already in the hive.
