Research Article| October 01 2002 A Response: “What the Manuscripts and the Eyewitnesses Tell Us about the Translation of the Book of Mormon” Daniel C. Peterson Daniel C. Peterson Daniel C. Peterson is Associate Professor of Arabic and Islamic Studies at Brigham Young University. He is the editor-in-chief of BYU’s Middle Eastern Texts Initiative, which includes the Islamic Translation Series. He earned his Ph.D. in Near Eastern Languages and Cultures from the University of California at Los Angeles. He is also the author of several books and numerous articles on Islamic and Latter-day Saint topics. Peterson currently serves on the board of the Institute for the Study and Preservation of Ancient Religious Texts and recently completed a lengthy term as chairman of the board of trustees for FARMS. He is well known as the editor of the FARMS Review of Books.
