Abstract

This article responds to the incisive comments made by Professors William B. Parsons, June McDaniel, James W. Jones, and Pamela Cooper-White during a panel convened by the Psychology, Culture, and Religion Group to discuss the book Big Dreams: The Science of Dreaming and the Origins of Religion (2016). The article includes a discussion of questions raised by the panelists about methodology in science and religion, the cultural dynamics of dream experience, and the interplay of personal and collective dimensions of meaning in dreams.
