Abstract

A resolution-driven generalization approach is presented for generalizing linear and areal objects such as road lines and buildings. The resolution is related to the target scale of the generalization. With the definitions of NOC (number of overlapped cells) and AR (adjoining rate), the presented method can aggregate areal objects and collapse linear or areal objects. Some complete evaluations have been performed with real-world data and the results show that the proposed approach is effective.
