Abstract

Under the tough situation caused by energy shortage and environmental pollution, new energy vehicles are expected by the international community to replace the existing internal combustion engine vehicles in the near future. China is hoping to take this opportunity to overtake other countries in the domestic auto industry around the curve. The development and promotion of new energy vehicles is not purely driven by technical progress, rather it needs a wide range of socio-technical systems innovation. In this paper, we analyze the status of the promotion of new energy vehicles in China using the socio-technical system innovation theory with Zhejiang Province as a case study. Finally, we give some suggestions in hopes of contributing to the innovation and diffusion of new energy vehicles.
