Abstract

Is Bacurau a film or is reality a film? The question is always the same, however, in this work, what we will investigate is how much the representation can influence the real actors, those people who identify with the characters in that place erased by the world that is represented in the film by Juliano Dornelles and Kleber Mendonça Filho. Real cities and imaginary cities created by cinema and literature are the focus of this communication, written by six different hands, addressing issues of a political, social, artistic and sound memory that involve any type of production that is made from the reality observed in this movie.

Platão e depois Aristóteles, na sua “Poética”, nos chama atenção para três elementos na literatura: a mímeses, que é ideia de literatura e de arte em geral, como imitação da realidade, o que ao longo de todos esses séculos vem povoando as mais diferentes interpretações; a verossimilhança, que diz da forma como a obra artística se assemelha ao verdadeiro em diferentes graus de aproximação e a catarse, que é a propriedade da obra em nos promover uma espécie de clarificação racional ou purificação das paixões, quando com a obra nos identificamos e nos sentimos parte dela, conceitos esses que surgem nos estudos literários ou não, como no cinema por exemplo
Sem dúvida que tais elementos de Aristóteles ultrapassaram os séculos, vindo repercutir hoje em nossos estudos cinematográficos, principalmente quando nos deparamos com uma obra como Bacurau, e questionamos seu grau de semelhança com a realidade, de sua imitatio e ainda de seu potencial catártico, que nos faz sentir como um animal sendo caçado em nossa própria cidade junto com nosso povo

The question is always the same, in this work, what we will investigate is how much the representation can influence the real actors, those people who identify with the characters in that place erased by the world that is represented in the film by Juliano Dornelles and Kleber Mendonça Filho. O que mais chama atenção em todo o filme é a cultura local, apesar de todas as conexões com o mundo de fora, o “sertanejo é (continua sendo) um forte”, e seu museu é a materialização dessa força, por isso a pergunta sempre latente a qualquer um que chega (“veio conhecer o museu?”) pois que ali o povo se expõe, mostra ao visitante e a si mesmo o quanto e como é difícil sobreviver lutando naquele espaço.
