Abstract

THE hemagglutination inhibition (HI) test (Fahey and Crawley, 1954) for the detection of Mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG) antibodies has become an accepted procedure for the detection of chronic respiratory diseases (CRD) of poultry. It is possible, through the use of this test, to establish and maintain MG free flocks (Crawley and Fahey, 1955). As more emphasis is being placed on the establishment and control of MG free flocks, the testing of sera becomes a major undertaking. A direct serum-agglutination test would have an advantage over the time consuming HI test.
