Abstract

SUMMARY The occurrence of scrapie in Kenya is described for the first time. Four animals were affected; all were ewes of the Hampshire Down breed which had been exported from Great Britain 15 months before the first appearance of clinical signs. The clinical signs and lesions at post-mortem examination are described. Histopathological examination of brain material from three animals confirmed the diagnosis.
