Abstract

Four autopsied cases of chloroma (5.6%) occuring among 71 patients with acute and chronic granulocytic leukemia were assessed. The hematological diagnosis of all of them was acute granulocytic leukemia. These patients were 3 males and one female which were all under 20 years of age. All of them suffered from dysuria and gait disturbance, 3 from exophthalmus and 2 from tumor of the skin. The fine structure of chloroma cells in 3 cases showed various deformities of nucleus, moderately developed endplasmic reticulum and several high density granules, all of which are consist with the characteistics of promyelocytes. A peripheral leukemic leukocyte of the fourth cases contained a peculiar nuclear inclusion body which might be a characteristic finding in chloroma cells.
