Abstract

The present investigation is concerned with Gaver’s parallel system with standby units and with provision of two repairmen. In real life situations it is not necessary that only one machine fails at a time; that is why we consider the failure in bulk. Two cases have been considered namely (i) variable bulk size, and (ii) constant bulk size. Each operative unit has a constant failure rate and a deterministic repair time. We discuss the total joint idle time of both repairmen during the survival time of the system, which requires the solution of delay-differential equation. The numerical results are also obtained for some particular values of parameters.
