Abstract
Este artigo pretende mostrar que a relação ambivalente que Baudelaire estabeleceu com as referências do universo religioso baseia-se, primeiramente, na impossibilidade de polarização entre confissão e ficção, entre sinceridade e construção poética em sua obra. A irredutibilidade do poeta, afirmada recentemente por Antoine Compagnon (2014), é estendida aqui, para além da questão ideológica, ao nível das relações contraditórias de Baudelaire com a própria linguagem.
