Abstract
In the finite element model of the water tank without reinforced ribs, most of the water tank structure is constructed with thin-walled parts, which are usually represented by the shell element, and for the local area with a large thickness structure, the usually solid element is used. For this area, the shell element cannot accurately simulate the stress concentration effect, while simulation with the full solid element is very time-consuming because of a large number of FE meshes. The Focus of this paper is to improve computation efficiency while ensuring the accuracy of the calculation. In this paper, a novel MPC method with a relaxed factor is proposed. Compared with the classical shell-to-solid method, the calculation results of the MPC method with relaxation factor are closer to the reference model, while the calculation time is significantly reduced by 42.1 %.
