Abstract
A semi-theoretical equation relating the emissivity in a direction normal to the surface of polished metals, n, and their thermal conductivity k is derived: n = 1·0 × 10-4 T k-1/2 where T is in °K and k in w cm-1 degK-1. Literature data are in agreement with this equation.
