Abstract

Background: Coinciding with the change in service location from Nambour General Hospital (NGH) to the new facility at Sunshine Coast University Hospital (SCUH) there was refinement of the local ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) protocol reflecting the updated Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand 2016 Acute Coronary Syndrome Guidelines. These guidelines placed greater emphasis on achieving first medical contact (FMC) to balloon times of ≤90 minutes, with increased use of thrombolysis.
