Abstract

The installed capacity of photovoltaic generation is increasing rapidly in recent years in China. Photovoltaic generation tends to be affected by environmental conditions such as temperature and radiation. The voltage of photovoltaic plant may fluctuate simultaneously with the fluctuation of photovoltaic generation. The reactive power and voltage optimization problem is modelled as quadratic constrained quadratic programming, which helps to reduce the difficulty of program implementation and improves the reliability of optimization algorithms. The photovoltaic plant has the ability of continuous reactive power adjustment, which can quickly respond to the voltage adjustment demand of the power grid, and then reduce the adjustment times of the capacitive reactor and main transformer tap. The idea of this paper can be extended to consider the voltage control of wind farms. The proposed AVC system helps to reduce the voltage fluctuation and carbon emissions, and can be widely implemented in regional power grids in China.
