Abstract
The paper describes the construction of a cinematographic recording interferometer based on the Jamin type. By using the interferometer tubes as reaction cells the instrument has been used for following the photopolymerization of styrene, methyl methacrylate, methyl acrylate and vinyl acetate. The sensitivity of the apparatus permits the non-stationary phase of the reaction to be followed. In this way the velocity coefficients for the elementary steps of these reactions have been measured and compared with the values obtained by other non-stationary state methods and by the rotating sector technique.
