Abstract

Abstract Clinical training is a key component of nursing education with the aim of equipping nursing students/ interns with skills needed for professional practice. Though patient characteristics and nursing care continue to evolve significantly, strategies for clinical training in nursing has been poorly developed. Thus, the A-PIE model is being developed and currently being implemented in a Burn Unit in Ghana. As the model reflects the need to have a professional caring relationship between the student nurse and the practitioner, Watson's Theory of Human Caring has been selected as the basis of the model.
