Abstract
In this paper, we give a reduction formula for the characteristic polynomial of k-uniform hypergraphs with pendant edges, and use the reduction formula to derive the explicit expression for the characteristic polynomial and all distinct eigenvalues of k-uniform loose hyperpaths.
