Abstract
Editor’s note: The Back Page was inspired by JoPAN’s founding Editor Ann Allen and launched in 1989 when O’Brien and Carlson assumed editorial responsibility. Years later, the column remains a constant feature. Intended as editorial space for comment and reflection, The Back Page is also a beginning . . . an opportunity to lure the reader who, as Ann observed in 1987, first scans a journal from back to front! Thanks, Ann, for your wisdom, vision, and encouragement.
