Abstract

A reconfigurable optical metro-access network (ROMAN) architecture is proposed in this work with a focus on an innovative reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexers (ROADMs) based on tunable micro-ring resonators (MRRs). The main aim of this network is sharing bandwidth among different time- and wavelength-division multiplexing passive optical network (TWDM-PON) access trees, linked together by a DWDM metro ring. Components and system performances have been evaluated only through numerical simulations and commercially available CAD software.
