Abstract

The phase diagram and thermodynamic properties of the Cr-Fe-Ni system were reinvestigated using a large amount of experimental information. Ternary parameters for the liquid, α, and γ phases were evaluated, and satisfactory agreement was obtained with experimental data. Several isothermal and vertical sections, as well as various projections, are presented, and comparisons between experimental information and calculated results from different assessments are discussed. It is also noted that it is not possible to get good agreement at the same time for liquidus temperatures and distribution coefficients above 15 wt pct Cr within the present thermodynamic models. The present assessment reproduces the distribution coefficients better than previous assessments.
