Abstract

A grid-connected photovoltaic (PV)/battery simulation system based on FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) is designed in real-time in this paper. It provides a simulation platform for hardware-in-loop test of physical devices. The simulation framework is designed and functional modules are introduced. The modeling of PV and battery is realized in a single FPGA chip. A typical PV/battery system is simulated in real time. The time step for electrical and control system is 1.096μs and 1.696μs. The simulation results are compared with PSCAD to validate the correctness and effectiveness of the design.
