Abstract

In earlier days, there was no competition among the generating companies. With the concept of deregulation in the power industry, consumer takes the power from the generation or transmission or distribution directly. In this paper, for deregulated environment, transmission cost is dependent on the transmission loss and shunt capacitor compensators. This cost must be allocated to generators based on their realistic contributions. These contributions are then calculated using power flow tracing mechanism. The economic scheduling of generations is identified by solving cubic cost equation and the generations are then balanced. The losses thus obtained are balanced using tracing-based loss allocation procedure. The total analysis is performed on IEEE-14 bus system with supporting numerical and graphical results.
