Abstract

Basilar artery (BA) dissection has significant morbidity and mortality and the diagnosis of BA dissection is difficult. It should be considered as a differential diagnosis particularly in young adults with subarachnoid hemorrhage and stroke at the watershed area of posterior circulation. An 18 year old male patient presented to our Emergency Department (ED) with complaints related to loss of consciousness, altered mental status and visual disturbances following masturbation. Basilar artery dissection diagnosed based on imagining studies. This is thought to be the first case of basilar artery dissection presented resulting from masturbation. doi: http://dx.doi.org/10.4021/jmc898w
