Abstract

ABSTRACT Awareness of one’s surroundings and operations on the body is a horrifying experience for the person undergoing surgery under general anesthesia. Here we are reporting a case of a 31-year-old female patient who reported awareness under general anesthesia. During postoperative follow-up, the patient complained of memories of events while under anesthesia. It’s important to recognize the contributing elements that can lead to perioperative awareness in a surgical setting. When awareness is suspected or proven, the patient needs support during the healing process and during the subsequent psychological aftereffects.
