Abstract
Atlanto-axial rotatory subluxation is characterized by a rotaion, which causes impairment of the joint, and the atlas rotates ut of sync with the axis. This may be secondary to trauma, local nflammation, connective tissue disorders and could also be a amilial condition [1,2]. The clinical presentation of this subluxtion varies widely. Mild cases can present without neurological eficits and mimic the clinical presentation of mechanical neck ain or headaches. Severe cases can present with progressive yelopathy, vertebro-basilar insufficiency, quadriplegia and suden death [3–5]. We report here a female case, which presented with torticollis hen following with the diagnosis of Familial Mediterranean Fever FMF). To our knowledge, this is the first patient in the literature, ho has atlanto-axial subluxation with FMF.
