Abstract

An eight-year-old indigenous bullock having body weight of 260 kg was presented to the veterinary dispensary, Sarankul, Nayagarh, Odisha, India. The animal was having a partially lacerated tumor like irregular swelling of the scrotum for 7 months and managed surgically. On cut section, dense fibrous tissue with multiple foci of suppuration was observed. Microscopically relatively large and irregular rosettes were found in h and e-stained tissue sections, whereas bluish gram-positive branching filamentous organisms were observed in yellowish surrounding tissue in Brown and Brenn modified Gram staining. The present report describes the clinical, pathological and surgical management of scrotal actinomycosis in an indigenous bullock.
