Abstract

AbstractWe have constructed a terahertz‐wave parametric oscillator (TPO) with pulse‐to‐pulse access to random wavelengths, using an optical beam scanner and a confocal optics system (1:1 telescope) to vary the pump light angle of incidence. In addition, we used the TPO in a spectroscopic study of HCl gas in order to test its tunability, and confirmed that the TPO was continuously tunable from 1 to 2 THz and could rapidly access random frequencies in that range. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
