Abstract

During a survey of the Tettigoniidae of Tennessee (Powders and Goodwin 1969), we had an opportunity to examine the Orthoptera specimens housed in the museum at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Included among the specimens collected in Tennessee were 3 Decticinae identified as a species of the genus Anabrus Haldeman. Because lack of comparative material prevented specific determination and because the genus was previously unreported east of the Mississippi River, the 3 specimens were not included in the aforementioned paper. We felt also that an intensive literature review of the genus should be made, and that the collection of additional specimens should be attempted; to date none has been found.
