Abstract

PURPOSE Current head lice treatments primarily target hatched lice, leaving the eggs relatively unaffected. Consequently, a second application is typically required 7-10 days after the first treatment to kill subsequently hatched lice. Abametapir is a novel compound that inhibits various metalloproteinases; these enzymes are critical for both egg development and the survival of crawling lice.
