Abstract

Introduction: Venous ulceration affects 0.6% of the adult population, increasing in the elderly, and costs the NHS £662 million per annum. Compression therapy is the mainstay of treatment for venous ulceration. This is an expensive, time consuming treatment often lasting several months prior to ulcer healing. Current bandaging significantly impacts quality of life (qol), is time consuming, and loses compression over time. Velcro wrap devices have recently been used to treat patients with venous ulceration offering potential advantages such as removability, washability, and self care.
