Abstract
A micro radiotracer technique has been developed to detect the presence of antibiotic activity, against test bacteria and mycoplasma, in the culture media of field isolates of forest actinomycetes. The results indicated that the technique was more sensitive than a classic disc assay system and offered the possibility of making an estimate of the mode of action of the unknown antibiotic substances. The method can be used for large screening of field isolates of actinomycetes for antibiotic activity.
