Abstract

Queuing theory has long been a popular choice, as a quantitative framework for describing book circulation models. The model developed in this article uses simple queuing theory to help describe the book circulation and reservation process. The queue is formed by customers making reservations for the book when it is not available in the library, and their propensity to make a reservation is governed by the expected waiting time before receiving the book.
