Abstract

The politic’s disputs between two groups, luzias and saquaremas, during the 1840s it was the context for us analisys a political litigation in this paper. This political litigation happaned between magistrates luzias and saquaremas from West of Minas Gerais, one of the brasilian provinces. Through this case, involving a judge, Pedro da Costa Fonseca, we could show another facet of political dissidence that began from the 1842 Revolts. We could demonstrate also the relevance of honor, or social prestigie, to maintain the social and political relations in the Brazilian Empire.
