Abstract
The following conclusions were drawn from comparisons of theoretical estimates of the degree of fracturing of brittle material by a concentrated charge explosion and the experimental data. 1. In determining the maximum size of the crack zone caused by the explosion of a concentrated charged, a good match has been obtained between theoretical and experimental data in the rock pressure range of 1-4000·105 Pa. 2. Theoretical correlations between the mean size of a piece and the explosive consumption, and between the size of a piece and the distance to the explosion center, are consistent with experimental data and correctly reflect the degrees of variation of these characteristics. 3. For a qualitative match of data on fracturing of nonstandard blocks in theoretical analyses and experimental tests, the measure of crack resistance can be expressed by the dynamic value γ0=10-30 γIC. 4. The theoretical estimates of fracturing can be refined by taking into account the evolutionary dynamic of the zone of radial cracks and obtaining data on dynamic crack resistance of rocks.
