Abstract

A version of a modulation meter of quasistatic electric fields based on the use of synchronous detection is described. The device includes a logarithmic amplifier, which makes it possible to measure the electric field within a wide range without using variable attenuators. The sensitivity of the device is 1 V/m or better for a time constant of 1 s. Its small size and low power consumption make the device useful for measuring electric fields outside the laboratory.
