Abstract

A 4-pole quasi-elliptic ferroelectric tunable filter working in X-band is presented in this paper. The compact and low-loss filter is designed with high-Q ferroelectric BST capacitors and open-loop resonators. The fabricated filter has a center frequency of 9.37 GHz with a frequency tuning range of 690 MHz (7.4%) when a DC bias voltage of 30 V is applied. The filter has a fractional 1-dB bandwidth ranging from 11.4% to 13.8%. The measured insertion loss and return loss are 3.3–1.4 dB and 17–11 dB, respectively, with a DC bias range of 0 to 30 V. The output IP3 values are greater than 20 dBm from 0 V to 30 V.
