Abstract

The present paper deals with the impacts of temperature and moisture on the bending behavior of functionally graded porous plates resting on elastic foundations. The impacts of transverse shear deformation as well as the transverse normal strain are taken into consideration. The number of unknown functions involved here is only five as against six or more in case of other shear and normal deformation theories. The effects due to side-to-thickness ratio, aspect ratio, thermal and moisture loads, porosity factor and elastic foundation parameters as well as the volume fraction distribution on the functionally graded porous plates are investigated. Numerical outcomes are given and compared with those available in the literature. Discussions are made to show how the foundation stiffness and other parameters have significant effects on the bending response of the functionally graded porous plates under hygrothermal loading and porosities.
