Abstract

A new empirical equation of state is proposed which is applicable to mixtures of chain-like molecules. The equation is based on a simple model which uses an approximate chain theory and an approximation of the Carnahan—Starling equation. The results for pure component properties of normal fluids are comparable to the common cubic equations of state. For mixtures of chain-like molecules, the new equation is as good or better than the Peng—Robinson equation.
