Abstract

Objective To explore the effect of humanistic education in clinical practice teaching by writing practice notes. Methods Interns were encouraged to use their own language and to express their harvest in psychiatric practice with humanities teaching, in the teaching practice ward which had humanistic education. 70 interns' written practice notes were collected. The content was analyzed with thematic framework method. Results 62 practice notes referred to attitude change about mental illness and patients. 55 notes referred to a further understanding of the doctor-patient communication. 45 notes referred to concerns about disease related factors. 32 notes referred to understanding of the practice of humanistic care. 35 notes referred to mention of their own changes, in particular, the doctor's professional responsibility to be strengthened. Conclusion Practice notes reflect the interns can attach importance to the doctor-patient communication, emphasize the humanistic care and other aspects of the humanities content, and at the same time they have suggested the humanistic education in clinical practice teaching can improve interns' humanities accomplishment. It might play a certain role in easing the contradiction between doctors and patients. Key words: Intern; Psychiatry; Medical humanities; Qualitative study; Note
