Abstract

Globally, COVID-19 pandemic has immensely affected medical education including postgraduate medical education. This study used a qualitative approach to explore the psychological impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Foundation Year Doctors (FYD). Ten semistructured interviews were conducted. FYDs highlighted the changes in their academic training and working life that occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic and the psychological impact of these changes. This study may be helpful for key stakeholders of foundation training in developing evidence based policies and strategies that improve the wellbeing during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
