Abstract
The Boston Medical Center Violence Intervention Advocacy Program (VIAP) uses a peer-model and trauma informed care to provide counseling, referrals to service, and case management to emergency department (ED) patients (VIAP Clients) with violent penetrating trauma. The purpose of this study was to explore and contextualize the VIAP clients’ experiences, and perceptions, in order to better understand the progression of the client/advocate relationship.
