Abstract

Abstract Date Presented 04/22/2023 This qualitative study used a phenomenological approach to understand how individuals with a rare genetic disorder and their families experienced fatigue in their daily lives. Findings suggest that fatigue in people with mitochondrial disorders such as Barth syndrome may need to be considered not only in terms of muscular endurance, but in a more robust fashion to capture the impact of fatigue on cognition, emotional regulation, social participation, self-care, and quality of life.
