Abstract

Abstract Seven patients are described who showed similar radiological appearances of the lungs while receiving high oxygen concentrations by artificial ventilation. The radiological features were accompanied by clinical deterioration and reduced lung compliance. Pathological changes occurring in five of the patients are described. The cause of these lesions is thought to be the direct effect of high concentrations of inspired oxygen.
