Abstract

SummaryIn a series of 50 primigravidae with continuous lumbar epidural analgesia delivery, outcome was compared to the degree of descent before expulsive efforts were made and to the activity of the epidural block. Unless the vertex was within 3 cm of the introitus and sensation was returning before the patient started to bear down there was unlikely to be a spontaneous vaginal delivery.
