Abstract
Modifiable risk factors such as diet may be important in halting the progression of endometriosis, the prevalence of pain symptoms, and the development of infertility. In adults, saturated and trans-unsaturated fat consumption have been associated with an increased risk, while omega-3 fatty acids have been associated with a decreased risk of endometriosis. There is currently no literature on the effect of diet across the life course. The objective of this study was to analyze the relation between dietary fat consumption during adolescence and subsequent surgical diagnosis of endometriosis.
