Abstract

AT THE present time, chronic respiratory disease (CRD) of chickens is generally considered a major source of financial loss to poultrymen. Since the disease was first described (Delaplane and Stuart, 1943) it has become enzootic in every poultry producing area in Canada and the United States. In view of its economic importance and widespread distribution it is evident that measures must be taken either to eradicate or control this disease. Only recently was sufficient information regarding the etiology and mode of transmission obtained to make suggestions for the control of CRD feasible.
