Abstract

In recent years, there has been a growing interest in how advanced ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) can converge into one form or another and be used as invaluable resources. Several countries including Korea are taking initiatives to formulate Low-Carbonated Green Growth Strategy as a new national economic model. In line with this, the Korean government has designated Advanced Green Cities in the field of Green Technology, which is one of their New Growth Engines. This in turn suggests that many local authorities in Korea would pay strong attentions to developing or retransforming their cities based on ICT, and adopt many advanced services as a part of their strategic plan to realize them. However, research on the U-City (Ubiquitous-City) Service Development has not considered reusability through modularity so far. Hence this paper will examine and suggest a development methodology for U-City Services for reusability via modularity. As part of our initial efforts, a comprehensive review on existing literature on U-City has been conducted, including SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) and NSD (New Service Development) methodologies. This study extends the analysis to induce the development of U-City Service Development Methodology. This research, therefore, will have implications in serving as a manual for adopting U-City related services.
