Abstract

Through the concept of the “physics of failure,” this article analyzes a possible extension of the modern Logistic Support Analysis (LSA) databases such as ASD S3000L in order to support a new view of operational availability based on the categorization of stresses obtained by operational scenarios and applicable to FMMEA (Failure Mode Mechanism Effect Analysis). In order to integrate such methodologies inside the actual ILS (Integrated Logistic Support) process, new database parameters and stress/failure physics categorization classes needs to be defined. This article discusses this problematic and proposes some extensions of the ASD S3000L LSA data model.
